Dear Friends:                                                                                                                 Reflecting over the eleven years since the attacks, I am so proud of all we have been able to accomplish in Stephen’s name. You have made this possible. Thank you.

This year we granted over $11,500 in awards to students. At the high school level, we awarded two students the eleventh Stephen K. Tompsett Award for Excellence in Math, Science or Technology (“Strive to Exceed Expectations”), two students The Stephen K. Tompsett Business Award (“Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork”), one student The Stephen K. Tompsett Information Technology Award (“Integrity, Quality, Continuous Improvement”) and two students The Stephen K. Tompsett Achievement Award (“Integrity, Strength, Insight”). The winning students represented Garden City High School, Chaminade High School and Regis High School. As we do every year, The Stephen K. Tompsett Award for Overall Excellence (“Kindness, Compassion, Leadership, Family, Faith, Academic Effort”) was granted to a senior from Our Lady of Mercy Academy. We recognized nine grade school students for Citizenship & Character, Leadership, Christian Values, Community Service and Honorable Mention.

In November 2011 Stephen’s Fund granted the first Stephen K. Tompsett Memorial Scholarship to a State University of New York student who is part of the Student Teach in Australia Program. Our scholarship winner is teaching in Queensland Australia and is blogging about his wonderful experience!

Through your generous contributions, Stephen’s Fund was able to continue paying tuition for a student attending private grade school in Queens, NY and we continue to support the Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation and St. Joseph’s School.
