Our 2013 Scholarship winner receiving her plaque at Convocation. Congratulations Carol! Have a wonderful experience in Oz!!

Congratulations to Carol MacDonald-Schmidt an Early Childhood/Childhood major from Saranac Lake, NY on being the recipient of the 2013 Stephen K. Tompsett Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is given annually to a SUNY student who has been accepted into the Student Teach in Australia Program. The Scholarship is $1500 and a plaque presented to a student teacher who personifies Steve’s qualities and is committed to perpetuating his legacy of volunteerism and good works for children, education and charitable causes.Because Stephen was Australian by birth and his mother was a teacher, the scholarship has special significance for the Tompsett family who is proud to support a worthy individual pursuing his/her student teaching experience in Stephen’s native country.

October 2012

We have received very generous donations from our wonderful donors to date and the Trustees thank all of them sincerely. Emily & I especially thank our donors for their continued remembrance of Stephen.

I’d like to share just one note from the many wonderful thoughts and prayers we receive. As you know, Steve was a Senior VP of Instinet Corporation and Instinet  continues to remember and honor him.   The following is the letter from Fumiki Kondo, Chief Executive Officer of Instinet Holdings Incorporated:

This year marks the eleventh anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on our    country. Stephen K. Tompsett, a valued member of the Instinet family, lost his life on  that tragic day while attending the Waters Financial Technology Conference at Windows on the World.

Since then, Instinet has and continues to honor the memory of Stephen K. Tompsett. We are pleased to tell you that the firm has held a “Jeans Friday” at our various locations, whereby our employees, in exchange for a $5 donation, are permitted to wear jeans that day. Instinet has matched those donations and issued a check for the benefit of The Stephen K. Tompsett Memorial Fund for Technology in Education…

Stephen truly embodied the character and spirit of the firm and we hope this modest donation honors his spirit.

Yours sincerely,

Fumiki Kondo, Chief Executive Officer, Instinet Holdings Incorporated

Thank you Instinet for never forgetting!
